Hello
My name is Monika Kunicka - Wroblesky, the creative mind behind my Collection. I moved to the US almost 9 years ago from a small town in southeast Poland.
Ever since I can remember I have been sewing. One of my first memories is sitting with my Mom on the floor in our living room tracing patterns on fabric.
My Mom and Grandma are hobby sewers and each had a hand in teaching me sewing skills. When I was 6-7 years old I got my first toy sewing machine and with help of my Mom I made clothes for my dolls from scraps of fabric. By the time I was in High school I made some of my summer dresses, skirts and book bags. I continued this practice once I got to college and finally I got my own real sewing machine.
My purse making began in 2006 when I decided to make a tote bag to match my outfit. After the first few bags I made for family and friends I became addicted to the process.
Now 5 years and over 100 bags later I cannot stop myself. I definitely love creating, making and even more carrying around my bags.
I am not your typical designer I have a Master degree in Child Development instead of fashion but that did not stop me. My inspiration comes from walking around fabric stores, talking to my friends and family plus every piece I see in magazines, TV and malls.
Currently I am in the process of creating some new styles that will make up Monika Kunicka Collection. I want people to know that my time, energy and most important creativity go into each of my bags. I make every single one of them by myself. It is time consuming and at times tedious, but I love the look on some one's face when I hand them the bag and they say, "You made this"?
